WATCH: 2,000 Army Soldiers Gather to Celebrate Easter

Faith and valor met Sunday in Fort Benning, Georgia.

Jenny Reese Clark, the wife of the U.S. Army chaplain who presides over the military post, said nearly 2,000 soldiers gathered together Sunday at Doughboy Stadium on Fort Benning “to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.”

She shared a video of the worship service on Facebook:

It was fabulous day at Doughboy Stadium on Fort Benning as roughly 2,000 Army Soldiers gathered together to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. As the words of the song ‘Reckless Love’ by Cory Asbury were sang, the Holy Spirit moved among the crowd not just encouraging the men and women present, but causing some to give their hearts to Jesus for the very first time. #Hallelujah! There is nothing like “the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless LOVE of GOD!” 🙌🇺🇸 #ArmyStrong #ProDeoEtPatria🇺🇸🙌

The worship team led the soldiers in “Reckless Love,” a worship song by Bethel Music. Dressed in camouflage and standing on the risers in the stadium, the men and women in uniform sang:

Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God

Oh, it chases me down, fights ’til I’m found, leaves the ninety-nine

I couldn’t earn it, and I don’t deserve it, still, You give Yourself away

Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God

Several soldiers, Clark noted, converted to Christianity after the Easter service.

“The Holy Spirit moved among the crowd — not just encouraging the men and women present, but causing some to give their hearts to Jesus for the very first time,” she wrote. “There is nothing like ‘the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless LOVE of GOD.’”

Before the service, 700 soldiers created a cross on the grounds of the stadium

This is not the first time Fort Benning has garnered attention for moments inspired by faith. In September, dozens of men and women were baptized after a prayer and worship service at Soldiers Chapel.

“I think that America is downcast by the news and the negative coverage,” Clark told IJR at the time. “It’s always something terrible, and people need to see that there are good things happening behind the scenes.”
