Chelsea Clinton’s child hospitalized Monday night

The Clintons had a fright last night. Chelsea Clinton tweeted that one of her two children was hospitalized for a sudden illness, thanking emergency services for coming to the rescue. She didn’t say which child was hospitalized or for what reason.

“Our family had a small health scare tonight. We are so thankful to everyone who took care of our little loved one at every moment. Thank you,” Clinton tweeted.

Chelsea Clinton and her husband, Marc Mezvinsky, have a three year-old-daughter, Charlotte, and a one-year-old son, Aiden. She did not specify which child was admitted to the hospital. Clinton, 38, also did not say which hospital the child went to or what condition was treated.

Book tour

Chelsea Clinton, the only child of Bill and Hillary Clinton, is a children’s author and has recently been on tour promoting a new book. She Persisted Around the World: 13 Women Who Changed History is a children’s companion to her best-seller She Persisted: 13 American Women Who Changed the World. The book tells the stories of women role models like Marie Curie and J.K. Rowling.

Women’s advocate

Like her mother, Chelsea Clinton styles herself a champion of women’s rights. “Particularly at this moment, in 2018, when we have so many women who are raising their voices around the world, so many women here in the United States who are running for office,” she said on International Women’s Day. “My message is thank you and we have to keep going.”

Chelsea Clinton recently praised the Parkland, Florida shooting survivors pushing for gun control. “I’m one of, of course, many millions who are so just humbled and proud and grateful for the inestimable courage of the Parkland students,” she said. “And really made hopeful by their indefatigable persistence.”

Hillary Clinton spoke at Rutgers University on Thursday for a speaking fee of $25,000 — less than the $32,000 awarded to reality star Snooki to speak there in 2011.

Hillary Clinton discussed her role as a woman in politics, saying she regretted some things she had said in the past. Hillary Clinton notably told a crowd in India recently that women who voted for Trump had no willpower and were simply submitting to the demands of their husbands, prompting outrage.

Defends Barron, criticizes Ivanka

Chelsea Clinton, who spent her teen years in the White House, often reminds the media to respect the privacy of children of the first families. She came to the defense of President Donald Trump’s son Barron over the summer when an article was published in the Daily Caller criticizing his wardrobe, prompting Melania Trump to thank her. “It’s high time the media and everyone leave Barron Trump alone and let him have the private childhood he deserves.”

“Dear Matty-Barron is A KID. No child should be talked about in the below manner-in real life or online. And for an adult to do so? For shame,” she tweeted.

But Chelsea has not shown the same sympathy to another child of President Trump: Ivanka. “I think anyone who works for the president,” Clinton said during a recent Stephen Colbert appearance, “should expect to be scrutinized for whatever decisions not only he or she is making, but whatever decisions the White House is making on any given day.”

Asked by Colbert if she and one-time friend Ivanka were still friends, she said she had “not spoken to her [Ivanka] in a long time.”
