Melania Trump visits sick kids on Valentine’s Day, stuns in red coat

Melania Trump brought some Valentine’s Day cheer to gravely ill children on Wednesday — and she stunned fashion watchers while doing it.

The first lady dropped in at the Children’s Inn at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, on Wednesday, where she spent the afternoon making Valentine’s Day cards and cookies with the kids residing there, all while wearing an elegant red coat that dazzled fashion bloggers.

She also extended thoughts and prayers to the victims of the Parkland, Florida, school shooting on Twitter later that afternoon.

Melania spends Valentine’s Day with sick kids

Sick children at the nonprofit residence received a special surprise on Wednesday when the first lady of the United States dropped in to make Valentine’s Day cards and cookies.

Dressed in a deep red $3,000 Calvin Klein coat to mark the occasion, Mrs. Trump talked to the children, hugged them and asked them whether they had made cards for their parents. Take a look:

The 47 year-old wore a long wool wrap coat belted at the waist with a silver buckle. At the inn, she smiled and hugged the children, helped them decorate heart-shaped cookies, and made and exchanged Valentine’s Day cards. The patients, who ranged in age from four to 25, are staying at the non-profit residence as they wait for clinical trials.

The kids also surprised Trump with a special gift, presenting her with a white box decorated in multiple colors that read, “Happy Valentine’s Day Mrs. Trump.” A boy also presented Trump with a Valentine’s gift bag.

During her visit, the first lady extended a special kind message to Amber Negrete, an 8-year-old who suffers from giant axonal neuropathy, a neurodegenerative disorder. Trump told the hospitalized girl that the best part of her job is meeting kids like her.

Melania criticized on Twitter

Despite bringing cheer to sick children, the first lady was nevertheless targeted on Twitter for seeming to snub her husband on Valentine’s Day. Critics pointed out Trump’s silence on the romantic holiday.

Some Twitter users couldn’t resist mentioning the current controversy over the president’s alleged affair with adult film star Stormy Daniels, which is rumored to have created a rocky relationship for the first couple.

So while the first lady brings joy to kids across the nation, it seems the left can’t stop talking about her personal, private life. Maybe they should prioritize what really matters: Melania Trump is a stunning, classy first lady that Americans should be proud to have serving the nation.

What goes on in her private life is none of our business.
