Wall Street whistleblower: Clinton Foundation the ‘largest charitable fraud in American history’

Bill and Hillary Clinton always seem to be up to no good — so it’s no surprise that their “charitable” organization, run by the former president and their daughter, Chelsea, is any different. But now, the Clinton family is finally being exposed for their nonprofit’s wrongdoings.

According to some financial experts, the Clinton Foundation uses hidden, unregulated transactions to move vast sums of money in order to peddle the family’s influence.

Retired investment banker Charles Ortel, who now focuses his time on exposing complex frauds, is just one of these experts who see right through the Clinton Foundation’s actions.

Assessment realized

Nearly three years ago, a charity watchdog group known as Charity Navigator referred to the Clinton Foundation as a family “slush fund,” and placed it on its “watch list” of “problematic nonprofits” as a result. The watchdog group observed that in 2013, the purported charitable foundation took in $140 million in grants, but only $9 million — just 6.4 percent of donations — went out in direct aid.

And it’s easy for them to get away with it. Ortel wrote in a piece for LifeZette:

Who would imagine, for example, that a former president, an aspiring president and a highly educated only child would work together, purposefully gaming controls at supposed “charities,” produce false and misleading public filings, and do so for more than two decades using a bevy of outside professional advisers and world-renowned directors?

But they do. According to Ortel, “close examination of available facts demonstrates the Clinton Foundation and its network of false-front charity “initiatives” and affiliates remains the largest set of unprosecuted charitable frauds in American history.”

He added:

In a sad sense, international charities are perfect vehicles for such questionable activities. After all, who can check effectively how much money is in truth raised and where discrete portions of these revenues are disbursed in far-flung corners of the world?

Haiti — battered twice

One of the “far-flung corners” that Ortel writes of was Haiti, a nation which was devastated in 2010 by a massive 7.0-magnitude earthquake that left the the already poor Haitian people even more destitute.

“They had suffered a heavy blow from Mother Nature, and now it appeared that they were being battered again — this time by the Clintons,” wrote political commentator Dinesh D’Souza. Although billions were collected by the Clinton Foundation to provide relief to Haiti, the Haitian people saw little of it.

D’Souza wrote for the National Review in 2016:

Where did it go? It did not escape the attention of the Haitians that Bill Clinton was the designated U.N. representative for aid to Haiti. Following the earthquake, Bill Clinton had with media fanfare established the Haiti Reconstruction Fund. Meanwhile, his wife Hillary was the United States secretary of State. She was in charge of U.S. aid allocated to Haiti. Together the Clintons were the two most powerful people who controlled the flow of funds to Haiti from around the world.

Even with all that influence, the Clintons left Haiti worse off than they found it. Government watchdog group Judicial Watch reported in 2013:

Roughly half of the $1.14 billion that the U.S. government allocated to help Haiti recover from the 2010 earthquake [as of 2013] went to wasteful projects, with the single largest chunk—$170.3 million—going to a failed port and power plant adventure heavily promoted by Bill Clinton and the State Department under the leadership of his wife.

Additionally, Haitians later “observed that a number of companies that received contracts in Haiti happened to be entities that made large donations to the Clinton Foundation.”

Pay to play

According to Ortel, frauds like these “began escalating in 2002,” but the Clinton Foundation became international in 2009 — during the first year of Barack Obama’s presidency, when Hillary Clinton was secretary of State and “planning her run for the presidency,” according to Fox Business Network’s Stuart Varney, who spoke on the topic earlier this month.

“International charity,” like the Clinton Foundation has become, “provides cover to disguise payoffs,” according to Ortel — which makes for a perfect storm for the Clintons’ influence peddling.

But while the Clintons are still trying to expand their influence throughout the world, the Justice Department has recently taken notice, and has begun investigating the Foundation as a “pay to play” organization.

And it’s about time.
