Carrie Underwood hides possible facial scars in new photo

She’s still keeping her face hidden. Carrie Underwood posted a new photo with her husband last Friday, in which the country star, who suffered a fall in November that left her with at least forty facial stitches, appeared to block out possible scarring with a red “X.”

She shared the photo of herself and her husband on social media to show support for the “End It Movement,” a campaign that raises awareness about modern day slavery and human trafficking.

Underwood has made a cautious return to the spotlight since suffering the freak fall. Underwood previously told fans she “might look a bit different.”

“Together, we’re in it to end it!” Underwood wrote. “Help us shine a light on modern day slavery.”

The photo comes three months after Underwood suffered a fall outside her Nashville home that left her with a broken wrist and forty to fifty stitches on her face. She has largely stayed out of the spotlight throughout her recovery.

Underwood hasn’t appeared in public since November 8 when she co-hosted the Country Music Awards — before the accident — and the few photos she has shared largely obstruct her face.

She first revealed that she needed dozens of stitches in a heartfelt New Year’s post. “When I am ready to get in front of a camera, I want you all to understand why I might look a bit different,” she told fans in January.

“I honestly don’t know how things are going to end up but I do know this: I am grateful,” she wrote. “I am grateful that it wasn’t much, much worse. And I am grateful for the people in my life that have been there every step of the way.”

A cautious return

Since the accident, Underwood has shared occasional Instagram posts that mostly hide her face.

When in 5 degree weather, wrap your @caliabycarrie scarf around your neck and face…you keep warm AND look like an awesome winter snow ninja! #WinWin #StayThePath #LetItSnow #BabyItsColdOutside ❄️ ⛄️

She did take a photo in December with a fan that was shared publicly after the January blog post, in which her face is visible and shows no obvious signs of an injury.

The country singer has said that she remains optimistic about what the new year has to bring.

“I am determined to make 2018 amazing and I want to share things with you along the way,” she said.

It would be upsetting if Underwood felt insecure about her appearance — especially since she looks just like her old self, if the December picture is any indication.

No matter how long the recovery takes, there’s no doubt her adoring fans will be there to support her.
